Paleo, Primal or Creation?

As most of you know, I am always reading about various diets and fitness routines. Lately, I’ve been reading about the Primal Diet which seems to be the Paleo Diet’s first cousin.

Anyway, as I’m reading Mark’s blog I can’t help but think that the Paleo Diet and the Primal Diet are really what I call the Creation or Genesis Diet.  I don’t know if you remember but several months ago, I mentioned that God is a good parent and like any good parent, he prepared for his children before he created them.

If you have been wondering what is the best way to feed your body, you will find it in the first chapter of Genesis.  I’ll even highlight exactly what you need to be eating in bold print!

11 So God said, “Let the earth sprout [tender] vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit according to (limited to, consistent with) their kind, whose seed is in them upon the earth”; and it was so. 12 The earth sprouted and abundantly produced vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, according to their kind; and God saw that it was good and He affirmed and sustained it.

20 Then God said, “Let the waters swarm and abundantly produce living creatures, and let birds soar above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.21 God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind; and God saw that it was good and He affirmed and sustained it. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to (limited to, consistent with) their kind: livestock, crawling things, and wild animals of the earth according to their kinds”; and it was so [because He had spoken them into creation]. 25 So God made the wild animals of the earth according to their kind, and the cattle according to their kind, and everything that creeps and crawls on the earth according to its kind; and God saw that it was good (pleasing, useful) and He affirmed and sustained it.

  • Fruits and veggies – and God saw that it was good and He affirmed and sustained it.
  • Fish and fowl – and God saw that it was good and He affirmed and sustained it.
  • Livestock & Wild Animals – and God saw that it was good and He affirmed and sustained it.

So whether you want to call it the Creation Diet or the Paleo Diet or the Primal Diet, it’s pretty much the perfect diet for us! I’m just sayin’…….

Something to think about: during this election I keep hearing people say that the Supreme Court is at stake because the next president may choose two or more justices during his time in office. But I’ve never heard anyone say that they pray for the court or it’s justices.

And last but not least, I got to spend a week with my precious grandbabies. Oh my! Liberty is more fun than a barrel of rowdy monkeys and Raelynn is so sweet and cuddly. I’m blessed beyond measure.

thinking about food

A verse from my daily reading….

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?

When we read this verse we tend to think of those who are going without, don’t we? But what about those of us who have become consumed about what and how much we eat, about the size of our hips, and getting some spanx to make us look thinner.

We’ve kept food journals, measured serving sizes, and counted calories. Instead of saying our nightly prayers, we tried to recount everything we ate throughout the day. We start each Monday on a diet. And end each Friday rewarding ourselves with food for making it through the week.

We’ve spent countless hours thinking about food, haven’t we? And in doing so, we have been in direct disobedience to Christ. (OUCH!)

Isn’t time that we break this vicious cycle? Don’t you think we be concentrating more on God and his kingdom, family, and friends than we are going to eat or what we shouldn’t have eaten?

Now this doesn’t mean that we should just eat absolutely anything our heart desires because then we’ll wake each day more disgusted with ourselves than we were the day before.

It means that we should be eating fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats. We should be eating the foods that God placed in the Garden of Eden and not what we find at the food courts in our local mall.

ImageLet’s stop looking for the magic pill that will allow us to eat those things that got us into this shape, stop paying Jenny Craig for her advice, and begin following the plan of the ONE  who designed and provided the perfect meal plan for us during creation.
