I’m currently reading “The 8th Habit” by Stephen Covey. Some would probably consider it a self-help book. Others might dismiss it completely. For me, it seems to confirm much of what I already know and challenges me to pursue this calling to align spirit, soul, and body with God’s divine plan.
While reading this morning, I came across this statement:
“I do believe, however, that almost everyone can experience the tremendous benefits of winning the private victory over the body. Such a victory also impacts our ability to produce public victories in our relationships with others and on reorienting ourselves to a life of service and contribution.”
Covey goes on to say:
“There are 168 hours in every person’s week. But if you will physically sharpen the saw through regular and balanced exercise for, let’s say, only two or three of those 168 hours, you will experience such a positive effect of those two or three on the other 166, including the depth and quality of your sleep, that you will begin to see the tremendous leverage and power that comes in your life from this kind of self-mastery. Mind over mattress.”
If you want to have better relationships with your friends and family, be more productive at work, and feel good in your skin then it’s time to make time to exercise!
